RICKY

After completing Rickys logo I hassled the studio Retro Press yet again
for a their magic touch to print these gorgeous buisness cards.
My design made onto a metal plate hand printed with black ink onto brown recycled card.
Yet another little successful collab with the typogreek.

Miss Kat Lyle

I guess you would normally come across this idea at weddings, but after struggling to deal with one of my best mates passing away this month, I HAD to find a way to apply my creativity somehow to the celebration of my friends life, so I painted a tree...

Been a while since I have used water colour, I forgot how amazing and therapeutic it is.
I then took the painting to the funeral and used it to go around and meet all the people Kat knew and loved and got them to stamp their finger print onto the tree to make a full COLOURFUL tree.
Just. Like. Kat.

There will not be a day that goes past when I will not think of you buddy.

MISSING. YOU. TERRIBLY.

THE GREEN COFFEE MACHINE collaboration

situated on the lovely promenade in Cheltenham have invested into a new shop space opposite Cheltenham's train station.

They have asked myself and RETRO PRESS
to team up and produce vinyl artwork for the two front shop windows..

 thePREPERATION:

There's nothing like real life size measurements to understand what scale we were up against to fill with wonderful words and illustrations..so we taped down the two window measurements in a car park space of course! Fortunate for us the sun was shining and the local pub was still open for our well earn't pint after all our hardwork..

theARTWORK:
Obviously the artwork was going to be based on what the coffee shop offers, but as it was a company that started up in Cheltenham we wanted to have a Cheltenham theme running through the artwork. So we tried to create a race course through the illustrations and typography, with the horses ending up at the coffee shop...

window one..
 window two..

After sourcing the process and drawing up the artwork we are have now sent it to the printers! It has been a delight as ever collaborating with Retro Press, and hope to have many more collaborations in the future! This week/next week we will applying the vinyl at the shop so swing by and say hi yeah!

RETRO PRESS MURAL

Working any extra hours I could find in the days belonging to the last two months, I would head over to this incredible hidden studio containing crazy letterpress owned by the hardworking company Retro PressHere I painted a mural basing the illustrations on 'retro' household objects and things relating to RetroPress.

Also I made a few parts interactive, for example I hammered in nails to the points of the antlers so you could hang coats/hats/equipment, or the clock face which is real so that tells the time!

Plus a couple of real frames that I painted black to carry on the 3D effect.

I made a little stop frame animation documenting the process, and managed to dig out my old electric guitar to play a few riffs over the top for you too.

Enjoy..

marriage contour

Just drew a 'blind contour' illustration for my friends wedding card who is getting married this weekend! A blind contour is drawing one continuous line whilst only looking at the subject and never at the paper…trusting your hand-eye coordination. Best thing about blind contour's are they are always spontaneous random illustrations, and there is a 50/50 chance they are actually going to turn out alright! #livingontheedge.
